There's Not One Women's Health Diet, but Several

Women health and diet issues can span many topics. Our entire lives we work to maintain a pleasing figure - not just for others but for ourselves. We find healthy diet options that work. However, during our lives, our bodies and metabolism changes due to stress, hormonal fluctuations, hormone changes due to stress of our adrenal system, or many health related issues.

I know often for monthly water retention fluctuations, many reach for diuretics. I know the feeling of lethargy can make one feel like missing a workout. But I've also discovered if you do an 'easy workout' it brings back the energy level and decreasing the body's tendency to hold onto liquid as you keep your internal organs moving. Drinking more water of course helps with herbal diuretic.

However, as we get older our digestive system changes. We may feel 'fat' when we are have digestive issues that cause bloating or retention which with the right probiotics help us to find our 'little middle again' having nothing to do with fat. Pregnancy and Peri-menopause are all changing hormones and digestion -insulin, adrenal fatigue, and the like needing us to re-balance our body chemistry working with the changes and adjusting accordingly.

Of course the best increase for metabolic slow down is adding more weight training workouts into your workouts. I know it took me 2 years to figure out why my clothes changed from morning to evening, until I discovered my system had developed a sensitivity to salt (since I never even add salt to my food). I noticed I needed to read sodium content on labels now more than fat or carbohydrate content to prevent an 'allergy type' bloating reaction. The result - a dress size and a half, adding nuts, (low sodium) cheese, and no salt peanut butter that I'd given up in my 'low fat eating days' back into my diet and back to my skinny me.

I personally spent 2 years trying catch up to the changes in my body. This included water weight from inhalers for breathing issues, aging metabolism, major job turmoil life stress, etc.  My own re-balancing was a discovery process to figure out what was out of balance and what I needed to do to get back into balance. I've always been a very diciplined person and refused to believe at older meant fat.  That thought goes against a God who created us for balance and optimal health.  Keeping the physical temple is important to house the spiritual one.

It's nice to hear on doctor's visits when I have to get on a scale (since I rarely do at home) how I maintain.  I always go by my clothes fit since a number on a scale is subject to daily fluctuations.  I learned that way back in college when I first began weight training since the number jumped due to muscle mass weighing more. Who says you can't maintain your college clothing size for your journey through milestone birthdays!

I've tried to set up a directory of women and health diet resources to assist you in this process...Women to Women and Body Ecology are two highly recommended sites for re-balancing your body and hormones for a healthier you.
